The Dutch Rudders create a style of music that is unique; it is irreverent without being offensive, whimsical without being vacuous, and clever without being showy. They are also absolutely hilarious, and put on shows unmatched by many other bands in the country, nevermind the local area.

They also piledrive alpacas.

Neil McSweeney's acoustic guitar playing style combines folk, blues and country, but it is his voice, likened by The Guardian to a male Tracy Chapman, and his direct and personal lyrics for which he is most recognised.

Neil's tracks have attracted national radio play from BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music and XFM, and he has had singles released by Kids Records, the singles arm of Warner Music UK subsidiary 14th Floor Records. Neil has also accompanied his friend Stoney both on record, on tour and in session for BBC Radio 2’s Dermot O' Leary at Maida Vale Studios.

Support from Vera Van Heeringen and Jock Tyldesley.

FRED ZEPPELIN - A TRIBUTE TO LED ZEPPELIN (9:00 pm)

£6/£8

IRONWORKS_C_2013

"2013 marks us being together 20 years…"

During this time they have had the honour of Led Zeppelin’s front-man Robert Plant attending three of their gigs and John Bonham’s son Jason even jamming with them on stage. These are things the band are very proud of. It must surely also be the best recommendation any band could receive, and also assure any Led Zeppelin fans apprehensive about seeing The Fredz.

According to one of Kerrangs readers polls. FRED ZEPPELIN are among the top ten best live bands to see. Quite an achievement, as they were the only tribute band listed in any category. Its worth taking a camera with you, as you don’t know who could be standing next to you. In the audience have been MAGNUM’s front-man Bob CatleyWHITESNAKE’s guitarist Mel Galley, who attended on recommendation – “Thought I would come and see you, as Robert (Plant) said you were brilliant”. Roy Wood legendary main man of THE MOVEWIZZARD, and SLADES Jimmy Lea was the latest rock celebrity to experience a two-hour Fred Zeppelin gig.

Fred Zeppelin were invited by Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page to attend a charity event of which Jimmy is a patron. Kev (former bassist) and Blackie (drums) attended and were thrilled to meet and chat with the legendary guitarist. Also at the party were Roger Daltrey, Julian Lloyd Webber, Leo Sayer and Formula One’s David Coultard. What a night !

The four members of Fred Zeppelin are real fans, and formed ‘The Freds’ out of their admiration and love of Led Zeppelin’s music. As their name suggests the band do not take themselves too seriously, they know the praise belongs to Robert, Jimmy, John Paul Jones, and Bonzo.
